Former President Trump told an audience at a town hall with Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders that he had a “very nice” phone call with Vice President Kamala Harris earlier in the day.
“I got a very nice call from Kamala,” Trump told the audience.
“No, it was a very nice. It was very nice. It was very nice and we appreciate that,” Trump said.
The phone call, came two days after Trump survived yet another assassination attempt within two months.
A White House official said Harris called Trump to speak with him directly “to express that she is grateful he is safe.” The official said it was a “cordial and brief conversation.”
Harris later recounted the conversation to an audience at at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) in Philadelphia.
"I checked on him to see if he was OK. And I told him what I’ve said publicly – there is no place for political violence in our country. I’m in this election, this race, for many reasons, including to fight for our democracy," Harris said.
The call comes a week after the presidential candidates faced off for their first and, likely last, debate ahead of the presidential election in November.
President Biden also called Trump, according to a White House official, Biden “conveyed his relief” that Trump is safe.

The gap between the Trump and Harris campaigns is widening further, and further as both continued campaigning this weekend. Tim Walz's charisma and authenticity are making waves on social media, and the Trump campaign is floundering. Considering his favorability has never cracked above 50% this may spell trouble for the Republican ticket. David Shuster breaks it down on Rebel HQ.

The filibuster started as an accident. Today it lets the losers rule Congress.

The US Senate is supposed to pass laws. But today, it’s broken. And it’s broken because of something called the filibuster, which has been part of Senate tradition for over 200 years. But the filibuster came into being by accident. And today, some politicians are suggesting we should get rid of it entirely.

Today, Craig Benzine is going to dive into the factors that influence judicial decisions. As you may have noticed, the Supreme Court recently handed down some pretty big decisions on same-sex marriage (in Obergefell v Hodges) and the Affordable Care Act (in King v. Burwell). Now, it's important to remember that these decisions are not made in a vacuum, but influenced by the other branches of government, political affiliations, and past court decisions. We’re also talk about a judge’s judicial philosophy - that is their relative restraint or activism in making decisions on laws. Judicial restraint is often equated with conservatism, but as we’ll show you, this is not always the case.

In which Craig Benzine teaches you about the US Governments Separation of powers and the system of checks and balances. In theory, the Legislative Branch, the Executive Branch, and the Judicial Brach are designed to keep each other in check and to keep any branch from becoming too powerful. In reality, the system was designed to keep the President from becoming some kind of autocrat. For the most part, it has worked. Craig will call in the clones to explain which powers belong to which branches and to reveal some secret perks that the Supreme Court justices enjoy.
